If it is PCL only, there should still be a driver that works.
The fact that you can get grayscale printing with the generic PCL drivers just gets us that much closer. Could you be more specific please? I'm not sure what version of the Gutenprint 5. I didn't have the Gutenprint drivers installed, I didn't know about them, only had the gimp-print drivers from !! I downloaded and installed gutenprint I checked the printer's configuration from the control panel and confirmed that the PCL colour setting is set to colour. I checked "Printer Features" from the print dialog. Where it says "Color Mode: I created a new printer with the exact same driver, but this time via a USB connection.
Same results as above. No differences, same behavior as with the driver. Same as above Another thing that's weird is that when I'm in the print dialog box showing me the printer name and the presets, I can select "Supply Levels" with the CLJ driver and it actually shows me the correct toner levels for CMYK I did my test prints with the "How to Print with Gutenprint.
Go to http: And go to http: Oh my. I just looked at the PPD that the Gutenprint drivers installed. There are obviously an errors in the PPD. Not only is the device listed as not be a color printer, the section that is supposed to give you the options for color output does not contain any choices for color output.
I will see if I can fix the broken PPD and make it available for you to download from my site. The fact that you were able to get the toner levels and print in greyscale shows that there is good communication between the printer and the computer. We just have to fix the PPD. Once we get you up and running, I will file a bug report on this if there hasn't been one filed yet. Unfortunately, the PPD files are correct -- the Gutenprint driver for even the color laser printers is black and white only.
We just don't have anyone to do the work.longhuntpiclape.ml/langstroth-on-the-hive-and-the-honey-bee.php

Let's be perfectly clear here: The driver's called "Color LaserJet " because that's the name of the printer. The fact that the driver for it doesn't support color is a limitation in that driver. In light of Robert's latest information that there is a limitation in the Gutenprint laser driver, let us move on to the second choice for a driver. Hopefully the linuxprinting. You will also need to download and install ESP Ghostscript if it is not already installed on your computer.

Be sure to delete the print queue you already have set up for the Dell. They are identical except that the CLJ has definitions for more paper sizes. Post back with your results. If for some reason the hpijs drivers do not work, there is still another driver option. The problem now is the quality. I don't know how to explain this very well..

I printed a few printouts, each time changing the settings in the "Printer Features". I tried a "high quality" setting in the feature set 1, no difference. I went in the feature set: It has been my experience that the hpijs drivers do not produce as good quality as the Gutenprint drivers. Then again, the Gutenprint drivers won't print in color on the Dell printer. It does look like the PPD may be limiting the resolution to dpi no matter what options are selected. This may be a limitation of the hpijs drivers much like the Gutenprint drivers won't print in color.
One last thing to try. Go to linuxprinting. You can then create a new printer queue using that PPD. The pxlmono PPD however, uses a different device driver compiled into Ghostscript. The pxlmono does support color or grayscale printing. It also has more definitive output resolutions. Hopefully the pxlmono route will give you a better output. Post back with your results to "finish" the archive for this thread. I think we are straying a bit from the purpose of of this forum which is supposed to be for Gutenprint drivers.
If we need to explore anything else, we should probably do it off forum. You can contact me at walterwego at macosx dot com. That driver did. It prints as beautiful as Windows did, sharp and crisp. Posted on May 08, In colour and greyscale, with a range of file types. You have to download and install all 3 apps: That's printing sorted. Now to get it to scan to Mac. I think that might not be so straightforward.
